Ramkrishna Bajaj entered into the family business in 1952 as a Director.
He was Managing Director of Bajaj Electricals from 1970 to 1980. He was appointed as Chairman in 1991 and he held the position till his demise.
During his tenure, he initiated the Long Service Awards, where everyone was given equal recognition - whether it was a peon or the Managing Director of the company. Like his brother, Kamalnayanji, Ramkrishna Bajaj learnt the values of patriotism from a very early age from Mahatma Gandhi and Vinoba Bhave; in fact, he was still a minor when he received special permission from Gandhiji to join the Satyagraha movement in 1941.
Social activism ran in the family and Ramkrishnaji was no exception, pioneering charities as the Chairman of Jamnalal Bajaj Seva Trust and Founder of the Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation. For him, social responsibility wasn't restricted to charity, but encompassed the betterment of the society. He went on to be one of the principal founders of the Council for Fair Business Practices (CFBP) and the Advertising Standard Council of India (ASCI).
Known for his ethical and progressive bent of mind, both in business and politics, he was a part of several youth organisations and devoted his time and resources to support education as the Chairman of the Shiksha Mandal, Wardha and Chairman of Gita Pratishthan. His motto: Good ethics is good business. His motto: Good ethics is good business.
